We’re pleased to share that LifeLine Projects will be delivering a new Mental Health Crisis Prevention Service for Barking and Dagenham, commissioned by the NHS North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT).

This service will offer timely, non-clinical support to local people going through difficult times with their mental health. The focus is on helping residents before things get worse, so they don’t end up needing emergency or hospital services.

The service will run across the borough and includes local hubs open on weekends and bank holidays. These will provide a welcoming, calm space where people can talk to trained staff and volunteers who understand what they’re going through. We will also offer support around practical issues like housing, money and employment, things that can make life even harder when someone is struggling.

During the week, our team will be out and about in the community, speaking with residents, connecting with local groups and helping to break down the stigma around mental health. We are working closely with faith groups, community organisations and local leaders to make sure the service reaches everyone, especially those who don’t usually come forward for help.

We’re creating something rooted in the community, not a service that feels clinical or out of reach. It’s a space where people feel welcome, where culture and life experience are understood, and where support is shaped around real needs.

If you or someone you know is finding things tough right now, this service is here to help. No pressure. No judgement. Just support that meets you where you are.

We’ve heard from so many people who say they just needed someone to check in, to really listen without judgement. This service is about offering that space, and making it feel normal to reach out when life gets hard.

More information and the first community hub sessions will be shared soon.
